Naturally Nails: Pink glitter accent nails

Hey hey
Once again, my favourite day of the week is finally here. IT’S SATURDAY! I don’t like Fridays because it’s still a school day and Sunday = school tmr so SATURDAY IS DEFINITELY THE BEST. If I could help it, I’ll have a 4 day work day and 3 day weekend. That would be my ultimate goal in life. I hope it comes true! Evertually I wanna find some way to make my money grow itself without me doing anything. Ahhh… that would be the life. Then I’ll go travel the world sampling great from all over the world just like ladyironchef! HAHA! Dreams
Got myself a very interesting nail “accessory that I couldn’t wait to try out. Here’s what I did with it!
Etude house: Matte pink
LA splash Daytona beach
The breakdown:
1. Use a matte colour of choice (etude house matte pink)
2. Choose accent nail and paint another coat of base polish over.
3.While polish is still wet, dip nail into glitter of corresponding colour (LA splash Daytona beach)
4. Dust off excess with brush and tap off excess glitter
5. Top accent finger with top coat (if not glitter will fall out)
OMG I’m seriously loving how this turned out. I intentionally chose a matte polish to accentuate the shine of the glitter. It’s like the star of my nails right now! Look at it twinkling like little stars in the sky! You can NEVER achieve this with any ole glitter polish. Even OPI’s teenage dream doesn’t come close. The only down side? The glitter can make your nails look super chucky because it forms such a humongously thick layer.
Oh! I have to complain about the formula of the etude house matte polishes. It’s really bad. While I have never worked with any other matte polishes, I still feel that this one is REALLY bad. I think it dries too fast, there’s no time to create an even coat because it sets. It’s TERRIBLE. It’s ok on my fingers because the surface area is small but can you imagine my thumb. I redid it 3 times and still….. extremely streaky. I had to use thinner to improve the consistency. =(
Here’s a close up of the lash splash glitter. NOTE, this is NOT safe for the eyes. Nonetheless, this glitter really surprised me. I had expected a chunky, gritty texture but NO, dipping my finger into this pot transported me to coasts of Australia! The glitter was so smooth and soft it reminded me so much of the gorgeously fine sand of Australia! Lovely Lovely! Ok so Daytona beach is mainly a soft pink studded with sliver, purple and blue glitter. The colour combi is really pretty. I love this shade of pink as well. Not too hot, not too light. JUST RIGHT *Noms on porridge just like goldilocks* LOL
Alrighty, I’m off to enjoy my well deserved Saturday. Fatigue, you shall not hinder me from my happening life.

Naturally Nails: Neon French Tips

Hey hey,
Omg, I’ve been missing for 2 weeks already! Apologies cause I’ve been super caught up with school. Yes yes the same old excuse but at least it’s TRUE! >.< Would you also blame if I said I wanted to leave my butterfly nail design on longer as my feature post?
Just like that, March is upon us. This is a super belated post that I have wanted to post since CNY but never did. But, but, all is not lost, afterall, better late than NEVER. Today’s post features my SISTER’S nails. *applause applause please*

Base: TFS WH001
Tips: Butter London Trout pout
How conservatively spring/ boldly winter appropriate don’t you think? Besides the fact that it’s freaking summer all year round here. I’m melting in my chair as I blog. Why is it so unbearably hot and sunny over here!!! >.<
The breakdown
1. Paint your nails with a sparkly/glitter white polish of your choice (TFS WH001), the shinnier the BETTER
2. Carefully top your nails with French tips using a crème neon colour of your choice (Butter London trout pout)
3. Top coat of choice (Poshe)
There’s all there is to it. How simple is that?! I totally failed on the French tip shape again, ended up looking like 1 straight line. Ughhh… I will master it I WILL MASTER IT!
Anyways, totally love the pop of colour that trout pout brings to this look. It’s so glam yet subtly in your face at the same time! Esp since the crème texture of the French tips totally balances out all that jazz going on proximal to it (LOL just had to use that word, I meant to say the sparkly goodness of the white base polish shining brightly further down from the tips)
Here are some other look/swatches of the colours
TFS WH001 – winter wonderland
Butter London Trout pout - Swatch

Kudos to my sister for keep her fingers in a rather photographic manner. Did much better than me when I first started off. Of course it was thanks to my marvellous OCD-ness. Ok I shan’t claim the credit. If you are wondering about the reason for the random feature of my sister’s nails? Well, it happens to be an annual affair. Since she’s still schooling in a rather strict environment if you get my drift coupled with the fact that she has sports training everyday including the holidays, there are only so many other days where she can don on prettily painted nails. One of those days happen to be CNY! She’s taken a serious liking to manicures now. I’m so proud of her *tears of joy*. NOT TO MENTION, one of my first ever nail post was also featuring her MANICURE! So you could say, she was the one who got me started on blogging! That was some serious years back. Wow, we have come really far haven’t we?!
This is still however, only the beginning. To more awesome nail-tastic posts to come!

Naturally Nails: Butterfly wing ombre

Hey Hey
Happy Belated Valentine’s everyone! Hope you had a great one with friends, family or special other half. I had a whale of a time helping my friend chase a girl for vday! Mine was spent rather quietly at my other half’s humble abode. We prepared our own army stew pot and basically dumped all kinds of delicious goodness into the stew. HAD A SUPER HEARTY MEAL! And a great time cooking it as well. We never like celebrating Vday on the day itself because everywhere is too damn crowded. Even terrible restaurants sprout ridiculous queues. Yup, just becomes a super turn off even if we had pre booked seats. Imagine Vday when we hit 6.9milion. WOW. I don’t even wanna think about it.
Nonetheless here’s what I did on my nails to celebrate the coming of my recess week! WHOO to being able to leave my nail colour longer than 2 days! =)
Base: OPI The IT colour
Gradient: OPI the IT colour à OPI I eat mainely lobster à China glaze ruby pumps
Design: TFS black, Etude house white
BAM! I am so proud of this design, so proud that it brings tears to my eyes! Real tempted to change my thumbnail now. Can you tell that they are butterfly wings? Specifically it is modelled after the Monarch butterfly! Drew inspiration for 2 vids on YT and put my own gradient spin on it. This is by far, my most ultimate, intricate, awesome nail design ever that took FOREVER to finish. The sheer amount of work that goes into painting on the wing design really takes a toll on your concentration. Nonetheless, the effort is totally worth it. LOOK AT THE END RESULT! A show stopping design IMO. I, obviously love this design the MOST! AMORE! Can't wait to show it off! *Breaks into song* "Oh I just wanna show you off to ,y friends, making them drool down their chiny chin chins"

Fair warning, this design is not the easiest and requires a heck load of patients and a crazy amount of OCDness to achieve
The breakdown
1. Paint a yellow/light orange base colour over the nails (OPI the IT colour)
2. Create your gradient on a sponge and dab all over nails making sure to blend blend blend (Best gradient nail tutorial by nailasaurus     HERE)
3. Wait for polish to completely dry and in the mean while clean up the edges of your nails
4. Using a stripping brush, dip into black polish and draw on the butterfly wings meticulously. This step takes the longest. (Pssst: A good tip is to draw the lines away from you as this makes the brush much easier to control. Sometimes, moving your fingers while keeping the brush in the same place also works)
NOTE: Round out any sharp edges esp where the lines intersect. – This is the part where you need to be very OCD about the edges if not they won’t look real. I couldn’t do them at well as I wanted to but still OK
5. Using a dotting tool/ toothpick, randomly dot on some white dots but rmb to add some where the vertical lines and horizontal tip meet.
6. Add rhinestones as you wish. Use SMALL ones so they look more intricate
7. Wait at least half an hour or more before applying top coat. You do not want to smudge your design after you’ve gotten this far. Patience, patience, PATIENCE!
Tada you are done! And I just lost my train of thought… ok OK right got it back. Basically you want to be very patient with this design. Definitely works with other colours as well. Just model them after the colours of butterflies to make them for realistic. Bear in mind thought that dark colour will not make the black wing design stand out.

Hallelujah! I have successfully made OPI the IT colour work. Terrible colour SOLO but gradient when used with other colours. Added in rhinestones for the fun of it, afterall rhinestones never fail to glam up anything it’s put on.
Ugh, some of my lines aren’t as crisp as I had wanted them to be and some edges aren’t as round as I wanted them to be but hey, nobody can seem them from afar right! Super proud that I could achieve the same design on my right hand, drawing with my left hand really tested my hand dexterity max. Well right brain, you have served me well!
Swatches:
OPI the IT colour
OPI I eat mainly lobster
China glaze Ruby pumps

Here’s a narcissistic picture of my thumb on which I think the wing design looks the best on! Probably because there is a bigger surface area to work with so I can draw more lines!

Totally can’t stop looking at my nails now. Imma continue to gaze bimbotically at them through the week and marvel at my work of art! I am not an artist and drawing ain’t my biggest forte, it fact it’s probably one of my worst so being able to pull this off really amazes me. Ahhh there ain’t no better art than nail art. It’s so unbelievably therapeutic. ESP when the you reap the fruits of your labour at the end.
Anyways, CHEERS to the coming of my recess week. This week shall be spent wisely!

Naturally Nails: Festive CNY nails

Hey Hey
So Chinese new year is upon us! So far it’s been a blast for me! I don’t have a ton of visiting to do because my family gathers at 1 place and it’s overkill! Ang Pao heaven! Which makes it really dangerous for any other guests to wander into our realms. People have before and their losses were huge. Could almost hear the sigh of despair from the outside when they saw how many shoes were outside my grandma’s house.
Since it’s the oh so covet CNY, what better way to celebrate it than with super festive nails!! Here’s what I donned on CNY. I was super red this year to please my dad. He was a happy happy dad. Could say that my outfit almost mirrored my nails, just that the darker red was burgundy instead. EVEN WORE RED SHOES
Without further ado!
Base: Etude house pink jelly polish
Tips: China glaze ruby pumps
FESTIVE HUH! Not as gaudy as I imagined which is good! I quite like the combination! The touch of red really changes up the look IMO. Can I just exclaim how much a love the jelly polish which also happens to be my favourite kind of finish. Looks super opaque in the bottle but when you apply it to the nails, it turns out to be a beautiful jelly instead! Best thing is that it pretty darn opaque for a jelly~. Nonetheless, I always couple it with a french tip just to make sure my nail lines don’t show through esp in the sun. Appalling how many time I have used the word jelly LOL.
Unfortunately, etude house revamped its nail range entirely so I don’t think this colour is in the line anymore =(
Anyway if you wanna check out a swatch of ruby pumps, you can find it here! (click here)
Notice any difference in my tips. Went to file them the next day to make em straighter. Think they look a better like that, more angular! I realised the problem with frenchtips. If you want them to look more crisp, a thin level of polish will suffice. I tried to make my tips look more opaque and ended up with globs for tips hhaha!! Can totally tell how rough I am with my nails. This is 2ND day nails. Check out my third finger. Took the greatest dmg.
And the last picture for the post. Non reflective post to “reflect” the true colour of the polishes.
Ah yet another rainy afternoon, this is probably the first in a very long time that it’s raining on CNY. No matter, the rain doesn’t change anything. Those ang pows will still be mine! LOL ok jokes aside, the best part of CNY for me is ofcourse the FOOD. So much sin in so little time. The best dish ever? Grandma’s and mum’s ngoh hiong. OMG to die for. Sis and I snapped up about half of it before my mum realised the degree of our gluttony and snatched it from our grasps to keep it out of sight TT. Could have eaten more seriously! Argh, there will be so much dmg control to be done after this week is OVER. OMG hahaha
Nonetheless HAPPY CNY EVERYONE. Apologies that my post is so BELATED. V’day is coming up as well but I do not think I will be in time for a Vday nails post so, perhaps this can double up as vday nails as well xD.

Naturally Nails: Ocean reminiscence

Heyhey,

It's FEBRUARY already. OMG people, how time flies - before we know it it'll be CNY, Good friday, April fools, labour day, Mother's day, Vesak day, my birthday, Father's day, Hari raya puasa, National day, children's day, teacher's day, Hari raya haji, Halloween, Deepavali, Thanks giving, christmas eve and christmas DAY OMG! That was a mouth full.

I was feeling particularly inspired this week esp because I've been wanting to try out blue ombre nails for the LONGEST, LONGEST TIME. Put on this design the moment I recieved my newest addition to my polish collection in the mail.
CHECK MY NAILS OUT!

In descening order of darkness: Canmake No.50, Essie coat Azure, OPI what's with the cattitude, OPI liquid sand Get my number.

I swear, the pictures don't do this justice at all, this design is one of my best designs EVER. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S not just IMO but in my friends' and family as well, got quite a few compliments ^^ The way the blues transition into one another and the way that the liquid sand sparkle in the sunlight just give me the image of the ocean. Not talking about the green waters here in Singapore but the crystal clear blue waters of other coasts. Heck, this doesn't even need the afternoon sun to do it justice, it twinkles so beautifully indoors as well. It's got this whole inner glow thing going on. All in all i really LOVE this one. Beautiful MAX.

Rmb how I was saying in my last gradient post (click here) that I would try out the whole paint a base layer on nails first and then create the gradient on the sponge including the base layer itself to create a more natural blended effect. WELL I did it here and boy were the results awesome. Achieved the most natural ombre EVER you could barely see where the colours end.

Here's how I did it

The breakdown:1. Using the darkest blue of your gradient (Canmake No.50), apply a base layer to the nails
2. Using a sponge, paint the colours in descening order of darkness on the sponge and quickly transfer to the nails. Use a dabbing motion and make sure to move the sponge up and down the nails to blend the colours better. Do not over do the dabbing (don't want muddy looking coloours) and be sure to work quickly as dry polish will stick to the sponge as you dab and remove itse;f from your nails
3, Apply glitter coat of your choice to make the transition look that much more seamless. (make sure that your glitter coat is sheer enough for the colours below to peek through, for obvious reaons. Don't want to waste that gorgeous ombre you just created on your nails of course)
SEE 3 simple steps and your done. It doesn't take long at all to do but looks like you spent hours and hours on it.

Tip: if you feel that you lost some of the colours through the blending process, just add the corresponding colour to the sponge and dab in the deficient areas. I call this "spot dabbing". For those of you who are perfectionistic like me. xD

Can I just say again how I think this combination is awesome. THIS.IS.AWESOME!
Thank goodness I can keep this combination on my nails for longer than usual =) More time to show it off to the world! Ok joking I don't really flaunt my nails but it still feels good when people notice it. C'mon they are blue for crying out loud, how not to see!
Warning: This is however, not very CNY appropriate so please do not rock this look if your family is extremely traditional.

Here's a picture of under the light of the evening sun.

Here's how they look under the sun. The camera cannot capture the shine of them but I don't blame the camera cos I think even the best of cameras may not be able to capture it. You can't focus on the glitter yet capture the "refraction" of light from the glitter piece. Just doesn't work that way.
Yes yes went a little overboard with the photo spam but can you blame me?

Anyways, if you ever try this out, totally link me in the comment below. would love to see them!

Ok got a test coming up this Monday so... I gotta hit the books before I sink into an abyss of no return. One of my friends posted a very wise post: One has to suffer 2 types of pain in life - the pain of discipline, or the pain of regret. Very true, VERY TRUE. I am a very free spirited person and consequently have no discipline so.... I probably always go through the latter. Sigh....
On a brighter note. I'm done with my CNY outfits. Got my 2nd outfit online. How convenient it that! xD

Naturally nails: White jelly glitter!

Heyhey,
Now that it’s been quite a while since school started, the boring and mundane routine of studying is really starting to eat away at my soul. What’s the key to keeping your sanity? Having a life and adding COLOUR TO IT. Wow, that sentence totally jolted my memory of the powerpuff girls! You know.. the episode where everything became black and white and the powepuff girls saved the day by singing? Love x9 makes the world go round~ Anyways, here’s my dose of much needed colour for the week! (meant to wear this for xmas but well it’s too late now ain’t it =X)
COLOURED GLITTER!

Etude house PBL 601.
This isn’t something that I’d normally gravitate toward but the BF convinced me that it’s pretty! So I got it LOL! Was pretty intrigued by it when I swatched in on my fingers.
PBL601 is a white jelly polish studded with multi coloured glitter of differing sizes. It goes on pretty sheer for the first coat but is definitely buildable. Note that because the white polish is a jelly finish, it allows the natural colour of your nails to peek through it hence transforming that stark white colour (which I like to call blanko nails) into a more natural, wearable colour. Brush picks up a good amount of glitter / coat but of course, you still need to manoeuvre it a little. Application was smooth as butter and glitter pieces aren’t the least chucky so it doesn’t drink top coat.
Really loving the whole jelly sandwhich thing. Totally changes up the look of the glitter when a jelly polish is layered over to give a more subdued and less in your face.

Ok so.. this glitter polish is really NOT MY STYLE. I am it’s all cutesy and all. Not that it’s a bad thing. It’s really pretty! Just not me. What that statement you must be wondering about the whole heart in between the lines thing? It was a kind suggestion from my best friend! We were painting our nails whilst waiting for the tiramisu filling to cool for an hour or so. Random baking spree! Loved the effect but again…… TOO CUTE!
So I had to counter all that insane cuteness with black tips which made me feel right at home! I quite like it I fact. Only complaint is that I kinda made the tip on my 3rd finger a little too thick. Really irks me but it’ll do.

Again with the narcissism, another picture showing off the mani!  I’m being really perfectionistic and all but next time I’ll try to get my tips a little crisper at the edges! Just like how I did it in one of my previous design. (click here). Sharp lines make anything more edgy. Ain’t that right?
Here’s to another week of lectures and torture! Can’t wait to earn my own keep for a change. Must feel wonderful yet shitty at the same time because working is a whole new ball game. Please let me survive the workplace politics.
OOO the unrelenting rain has finally let up! Time to soak in all the sun before the weather turns into a scorching nightmare as always here in the sunny island of Singapore. Imma going to enjoy some juicy tang yuan at that!
PS: for those who haven’t watched Les miserables. Please don’t waste your time watching it. It’s BORING. Like really boring. ESP for those of you who prefer action movies or animations over anything. Too draggy and the plot advances SO SLOWLY. Ugh.. I love musicals and all but this is just… pure torture to watch. The only saving grace is the wonderfully heart wrenching, totally touching ending. As jesse (from Pitch perfect) says: Endings are the best part ^^

Naturally Nails: Punk-y Purple gradient nails

Heyhey
1 week of school has just come and gone like that. I'm currently high from severe lack of sleep but no matter, will crash and burn later. Planning to go watch Les Miserables tmr so hopefully I'm able to wake on time!
Since the precious the weekend is here, although somewhat semi destroyed by a saturday tutorial at 8am....... what better way to get into the party mode than with a polish post!

Base: Etude house black
Purple: OPI planks a lot (pirates of the caribbean)
Tips: Nubar Vaso
Ring finger glitter: Essie set in stones
Basically used the sponging technique to create the gradient. Love the effect of my ring finger the best!! I'm like half half with this design. Really love the colour gradient and all but the blending could have been a little more natural! Totally being perfectionist but YEAH!

Here's what I came up with. I must say I struggle a little with this. Couldn't get the perfect way to blend the black into the purple without it looking crazy messy. Right after I slapped my polish on though I came up with the method - paint a layer of black polish over and let completely dry. Created black and purple gradient on sponge and dab instead of directly dabbing purple directly. It should theoretically produce better results. Will test it some when, some time.

Ugh! The unblended edges really irk me. Guess this is what happens when you don't blend your makeup properly either. Fatal move. I will perfect this gradient technique!
Tips from my experience:
1. Use a glitter top coat to even out the gradients better
2. Works very well with lighter colour gradients (i.e Medium pink to pink etc)
3. Glitter/ shimmer polish blend much better
Here are some of my other gradient posts:
1. Kpop inspired (my favourite)
2. Pink gradient
Ahh! Shall enjoy the rest of the weekend while it still lasts. Nothing beats lazying on the couching and flipping through channels looking for a good movie. That's the life. MONDAY PLEASE GO AWAY

Naturally Nails: Relvon Moon Candy - GALACTIC swatch

Hellow
Weather's been pretty cold lately, I'm seriously going to come down with something sooner or later. I can already feel my allergic rhinitis kicking in. Oh the "good" ole days of rhinorrhea, blocked nose and post nasal drips. ARGH.... Why, WHY. Anyways, I appreciate the relief that the cool weather brings though. Singapore has been too hot for too long. Its great that there's at least a change in temperature. Unfortunately, I once again got drenched in the heavy rain despite my new and improved umbrella, on the day that I was wearing a white skirt. HMPHS to all you pervy man out there. There was nothing much showing thankfully =) and once again, I was saved by my beloved jelly flats that received praise from my tutor HAHAH! COOL OR WHAT?!
Don't know what's up with my recent obsession with blue, my recent posts have all been about blue polishes. Totally unintended btw
Anyways, here's what I have on this week. A new little item that my BF picked out for me =) He said that the combination looks awesome. He was right!
Relvon Moon Candy - GALACTIC
Isn't this combination awesome? It's so galactic, as it's name suggests. Not to mention glowy as well. The polish basically comes in a pen form that consists of 2 colours, each on one side. Galactic basically consists of a deep navy base colour and a stuning jewel toned irredescent blue-green sometimes even purple flake top coat (the top coat bescially consists of blue green flakes suspended in a light blue base colour).

Some thoughts about the product:
1. Overpriced ttm. I've always realised that revlon prices it's polish at exorbitant prices, even higher than OPI polishes that you find retailing at push carts which really astonishes me sometimes. I mean, I don't deny that their polishes are REALLY GOOD but they aren't of the same branding level as OPI? Not to mention, OPI polishes denitely trump them if not in formula then in the brushes and packaging at least.
This duo here cost me a whole SGD$12.90. I admit, it was a crazy slurge especially for 7mls of product meaning 3.5ml on each side. EVEN CANMAKE POLISHES THAT CONTAIN 7ML OF PRODUCT COST LIKE SGD$8.90. What in the badoosie!? Ok I made that word up but I am really at a loss of words. I'm already 1/4 my way through the shimmer coat just with the first application. Granted I don't exactly use  up all my polishes this is still madness.......
2. Application wise, the base colour was great! Smooth and self leveling with crazy opqacity. It's a one coater! Love that. It's actually pretty similar to 2 coats of Canmake No.50 (see here) (here for a lighter swatch) but just less electric. The top blue green shimmer topcoat of the other hand was the mother of all gloopiniess. I mean OMG it was SO THICK and just hard to work with, as much as the end results rock wonders, the process was excruciating. I had to make sure that there was enough flakes pieces on the brushe and had to place the pieces properly to prevent them from  gooping and overlapping. Sometimes, I can't even get a satisfactory amount of flakes on. I suggest using a thinner to thin out the top coat first. As such, please do not mind the crazy mess that is my ring finger because things just got out of hand although I was really happy with the amount of glitter packed there.
Another thing that I noticed was that if you didn't place the shimmer flakes FLAT out, they would "fog up" when they dry on top of each other. The pieces themselves look almost transparent on their own so it you don't separate them properly, they will end up drying to a weird finish. Lastly, they are as prickly as glitter pieces. Even with top coat, random edges still stick out and poke you. Freaking porcupine of a polish.

Bamm! Just edited my watermark. Am really pleased with this one. Much better than my previous slipshot one!! xD
As much as I hate this polish because of the arduous application process and the trauma that it put me through. I really love the end result. Would have put it as a rave if not for the cons. As the saying goes (translated from mandarin):" After everything bitter beginning lies something sweet at the end" Ok maybe not that accurately translated but litterally it means bitter first sweet later. Anyway you get my point.
Overall: Love combination, will wear it again but will NOT repurchase.
******************************

Something absolutely appalling and mindblowning happened to my friend and I in the train just ytd. Come, let me set the scenario. So my friend and I were chatting away about little miscelleanous things in life while there was this random caucasian dude sitting diagonally across us. Now why would I even mention a random ang moh bloke out of no where? BECAUSE... while we were idling our time away deep in conversation, we noticed a random flash of light from no where. We turned our heads to the direction of the lights and to our horror, we saw the ang moh dude holding his phone conveniently angled towards us (there was virtually no other female around except for 1 sitting ~right next to us~ and then a sleeping guy a few seats away) Obviously he wasn't going to take a photo of a sleeping guy right? We were like WTH?! Even the dude himself was shocked at the flash. I mean c'mon, wanna snap pictures, gotta be sneaky right. YOU WERE AS GOOD AS BALANTLY EXPOSING YOUR IDENTITY AND INTENTIONS -_- He quickly pretended/ decided to text furiously to i don't know hide his face? Whatever.
Being the self conscious people that we are, we calming checked if we were exposing anything indecent which we were (I was in skinnys and a slouchy long sleeved shirt and my friend who was in a skirt was all covered up by her gold bar of a bag and books), searched for evidence of any disgusting fat layers poking through but no in case the dude was thinking of 9gaging our fats, that would be bad.. but nope, they too were well hidden from sight. After being kinda perplexed for a while, we decided to brush the guy off and continue our small talk. Let me say this, if you get caught red handed for doing something wrong, you jolly well DON'T DO IT AGAIN LAH. But no, this guy had the audacity to angle the camera towards us once more, this time, we just stood up and walked off to find other seats. LIKE DUDE.... HAVE YOU NO SHAME..... ew... Should have totally taken a picture of him taking a picture of us and STOMPED IT... arghh But i don't believe in stomping because it really just fuels people's kaypohness TTM. ANYTHING ALSO STOMP. GET A LIFE AND LEAVE PEOPLE IN PRIVACY. If it ever happens to you, it ain't going to be pretty EITHER. Not like anyone in the world is a model citizen anyway.
Btw happy belated black friday everyone, though there is no such custom here in Singapore. Hope you got mega deals and steals. On another note, Rise of the guardians (by dreamworks) was AWESOME. I really enjoyed the movie through and through. There was really never a dull moment. It was really really filled with child like wonder, magic and really apt humour. The story line has nice twists to it and the characters are more complication then they look. Dreamworks has really been uping their game, first it was how to train your dragon and now this. Great job GREAT JOB! If you are an animation lover, you will love this movie. GO WATCH IT.

Naturally Nails: OPI Skyfall collection - Live and Let Die + Where to find Deborah Lippmann and Butter London in Singapore

Hellow,
HEY EVERYONE! Hope everything's been fine. Big shoutout to all those in UNI with fast approaching exams. All the best to you! Speaking of school, I've just found a gem in NUS. Don't ask me why I'm so lag in knowing this but DID YOU KNOW that over at YIH (Yusof Ishak House) on the level of the kopital and toastbox, there lies a humble little carriage and within carries a seletion of all you can imagine polishes! Ok not that exaggerated but it sure does carry alot and pretty updated too. For all those looking for the OPI 18k carat gold flake top coat from the Skyfall collection, I'm proud to say that you may find it there. Fair warning, it is VERY EXPENSIVE. Even the owner himself admitted LOL $34. O.M.G. For those dying to get your hands on the top coat but are really put off by the price, you can check out this vid I stumbled across on YT - How to DIY 24k Gold foil polish (I forget the title LOL but it's something like that)
Anyway, other than the normal OPI, China etc etc, he also carries, believe or it. DEBORA LIPPMANN AND BUTTER LONDON POLISHES. Hallelujah! Ok, then comes the price deterrace. $32 and $22 respectively. Quality really aptly put comes with a price. $$$$$$. Boo =( Why in the world am I giving free advertisement to this guy? Don't know. Was too excited about my find that I just had to share it with you guys. I asked the dude how long he'd be at NUS for, he said, to the end of the year. He's trying to get the spot for next year as well but he is already an ex student and that spot is sadly given priority to students. So cross our fingers and hope that he'll still be there. If not, he'll disappear somewhere and it'll be another hide and seek.
Ok that was a little too much rambling. Reminds me of Blaire (Juicystar 07). Her intros are always really long but I can undestand why. If I were to have a YT account, I would too be rambling HAHAHAH Like how I am now again!
Onward to the nail look. Here's what I had on for the week.
OPI Live and Let Die (Skyfall 2012 collection)
As you keen eyed people have probably noticed, the polish has worn off the tips of my nails. This is because it's about hmms 4 days old and I do a lot of typing, excessive perhaps and I was studding my shorts so..... YUP. Wear and tear damage. Please forgive and ignore.
Live and Let die is a blacked green with mainly gold shimmer plus random bits of green and ?red shimmer as well. It's a gorgeous colour. You could seroiusly get away with 1 coat of this baby but again I went with 2 and top coat just because. It's OPAQUE MAX in 1 coat. Check out how it looks with one coat. (vampy Varnish's post). Application was smooth as butter with zero streaks. L.O.V.E.L.Y

Here's a close up of the sparkles. PRETTY. Really pretty up close.
I know I know, it looks BLACK. I won't deny that because it really does. Especially when there's poor lighting and ESP so if you are a guy. Just imagine that it's a little green? LOL pardon the generalisation but there was this joke on 9gag going aroiund about guys being irrtated that there are so many names for different shades of colours when all they see is one colour. Unfortunately I can't find that post. Anyways, my beloved boyfriend also couldn't really catch the green under poor lighting. It's really more of a subtle thing, like it's almost black but NOT. I love that.
As much as I adore this gorgeous shade, TBH (to be honest) I'm a little disappointed. This had the potential to be SO MUCH MORE but it isn't. Really sad that the sparkle only shows up ever so slightly on the nails. You really have to look for it, it doesn't even really glitter in the sunlight like Edward Cullen does (yet another movie that I refused to chase but have heard too much about). It glissens so much more in the bottle. Am I being anal? Perhaps but this is supposed to be quality nail polish after all, every detail counts. Maybe I didn't shake the bottle enough. OMG maybe I didn't, ok I will try a coat now. Ok that got my hopes up too high, it's still the same intensity of shimmer. Oh well. =(
Here's another picture of the shimmer back when I had just finished painting my nails. LOOK no chip marks!
See what I mean about the sparkle, kinda too little going on. Alll in all I'm really having a schizo time with this polish. As much as I love it, I dont because it's gorgeous but disaapointing. Does that make sense? Like it could have been better! You know the whole it's good but not great thing that gets on overy ALMOST dean's listers nerve MUAHAHAH. I envisioned it so much prettier as I've repeated quite a few times like a broken recorder. Will I still wear it though? YES I WILL. See what I mean. Schizo.
******************

We are mid way through November now. It's ALMOST XMAS! I love xmas despite the lack of snow in our tropical country. It's the whole festive thing that really excites me. Actually no wait, my family and I will be away for xmas, in the land of Seoul! That I really can't wait! Shopping (not for clothes) and EATING. Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Korean cuisine. Spicy is right up my alley. Not to mention all the bbq meat and seafood. My salivary glands are really working now.
Anyways, we're in monsson season now. It's been raining CATS AND DOGS HERE. Everyday the heavy raindroplets pour down relentlessly on every rooftop I'm under. Not to mention, my friend and I got HORRENDOUSLY DRENCHED in the crazy rain EVEN WITH AN UMBRELLA. It was the crazy wind, I was soaked from neck down, but I'm thankful my head wias dry and my hair didn't messed up. Also I thank god for jelly flats (from little things she needs), my shoes were immune to the wet water and little acidic rain WHOOO! My friend on the other hand had to unfortunately get a cheap pair of slippers because it would have been a real disaster if her marc jacobs horse hair shoes was soaked. Now we wouldn't want that would we. Just when I thought the whole rain saga was over and that I escaped kinda unscathed, I had to find something horrific when I looked at myself in the mirror. Now I didn't get struck by lightning but my white top got stained by my bag handle.... UGHHHHHHHH. Unfortunately, my damp white top (which was fortunately thick enough to prevent an awkward situation) kinda caused the colour to run =((( Now I have weird bag strap stains on my top =( Well, the plus side is that the weather's really cool and AWESOME FOR SNOOZING although bad if you have to drag yourself to work. UGHH. I guess this is our version of winter.
Once again I am guilty of rambling. This is a disease I tell you but thanks for making it all the way down here =) LOVE YOU!

Naturally Nails: Cobalt Blue Jellysandiwch Reverse Switch Up

Hellow,
There is something about me and cobalt/electric blue lately. I seem to be exaggeratedly attracted to it, allured by that subtle yet bold aura it exuberates. I'm not just talking about nails, I'm also talking about eye looks, tees, shorts, dresses, bags, SHOES. Everything. You name it. I think I already have cobalt coloured shorts and dresses. LOL I'm super proud of my shorts collection because I'm on a quest to collect every colour there is, provide it fits me duh and looks pretty! I'll save this story for another day though.
Anyways, so.. I'm all over the whole jelly sandwich thing. Tried it the moment it was known to me and LOVED IT. Here's my first ever try and post on it. Whoever invented it is a genius. Imma telling you, If I were to own all the jelly and glitter polishes out there, I would wear the jelly sandwich combination to death but there's an obvious limitation for me, I don't own that many glitter. I poured through my collection to find a suitable colour.
There are so many crazy ones out there but here's mine at the moment.

Canmake No.50 and Essie Set in Stones
Rmb how I said in my previous post that canmake No. 50 is a gorgeous blue jelly. Here's how the colour really looks with 1 coat. Read my previous post for a review on it. The cobalt defnitely reflects better with a single THIN coating. This polish goes on ALMOST opaque on the first coat already so you have to be careful to take only what you need for a nice thin even coating on the nails. As you can see I struggled a little with the consistency as thin coats tend to be very tricky to apply. You can end up with hideous bald spots and all. Urgh, irritating.
Strange though how this is probably the only time I wish that my polishes were a little less pigmented than they there. Oh the irony of life

Decided to switch up the jelly sandwich technique and do a as I like to call it, reverse Jelly sandwich. Which is effectively just putting glitter on top of the jelly polish LOL. But it definitely sounds cooler when you call it revere jelly sandwich ^^
The Breakdown1. Apply Essie Set in Stone over entire surface of nail, making sure that glitter pieces are evenly spread out. Wait to dry COMPLETELY. The clear base gets very goop so you won't want to paint over it when it's semi dry, you'll end up with some heck of a hot mess
2. Apply a THIN layer of canmake No.50. You should still be able to see the glitter pieces showing through. It you can't, it's too thick. Try to thin the layer out before it's dried
3.  Apply Essie Set in Stone over the top half or less of the nail. Again making sure to evenly spread out and densely pack on the glitter piceses for the best effect
Done! Easy Peasy. Loving the different textures going on, I think it gives the look so much more sophistication and depth. PRETTY!

Ok my 4th finger was supposed to be the accent nail but it doesn't stand out that much and it completely covered my jelly sandwich at the bottom =( But it's pretty nonetheless.

Here's a close up of the look! Excuse the mess! I love essie set in stones. The whole thing about different sized glitter really clicks with me. It's GREAT!!! Simple yet different. I've used this polish in so many of my looks it's an integral part of my life now. I hope I don't run out of it because I think it's limited edition =(( Tempted to get a second bottle it I can get my hands on it.
Here's a more detailed review on Essie set in stones.

Life update: Ytd, I unlocked yet another acheivement in life. In my 21 years, I've never stayed out past 12.30am, never been to a pub and never watched a late night movie. I know, judge me. All that changed yet. I went to timbre, watch a late night movie and got home at 4am. OMG.... Thank god for cars. Anyways. It was a blast! I got lost like crazy, drove in the jam, clamoured for parking spaces in town and all that jazz. It was trusly a whoel new experience. HAHAHAHA. Awesome! BTW, if you guys didn't already know, timbre @ old school is CLOSED PERMANENTLY. The BF and I scoured the entire Mt Sophia road, as it WALKED from 1 end to the other only to find out from someone that it's been closed for a while now. We were like, i think we'll try to find timbre by listening out for a live band but LOL none whatsoever. Just the dead of the night and really errie looking houses. Should have known that it was the former tenent of the now montessori house on the hill LOL. I know, noob muvh. But I mean, we went on the basis of the instructions, climb the long flight of staircase and you'll reach timbre LOL. Imagine our confused faces when we were greeted with secluditiy and silence. LOL. So we journey to timbre @ substation instead. Managed to catch the live band which we could hear from miles away! They played Gangnam style LOL LOL!
Also I hereby declare google maps an app that does not show you shortcuts =( I love google maps, don't get me wrong but sometimes, it does troll you and bring you down excessively windy roundabouts lol!
